Your Dog’s Kennel stay; get ready with Beaphar

While you’re on holiday, putting your dog into kennels is a great option to ensure they are safe and well looked after. To help your dog enjoy their downtime in the kennels it’s a good idea to prepare a kennel-care kit for them. Such as:

To help your dog settle in as quickly as possible, the kennels will need to know as much information as possible about them. Use the Beaphar Kennel Checklist to make sure you're prepared:

Before you go away

  • Leave your dog’s crate out in the house with a blanket or their favourite toy inside. You could also feed them one of their meals in the crate to help them form a relaxed and positive association with being inside.
  • Use the Beaphar CaniComfort® Calming Spray in your dog’s crate. Each application creates a calming effect that lasts up to five hours. But make sure you wait 15 minutes before letting your dog inside. (And never spray your dog or the crate while your dog is inside).
  • If your dog is on any medication, make sure they have enough to last while you’re away. And make sure your dog's flea treatment is up-to-date - Beaphar FIPROtec® Spot-On is quick and easy to apply, and effective for up to 4 weeks.
  • Check your dog’s microchip and contact information is up-to-date.

It’s also a good idea to create an information pack for your dog, including information such as:

  • Your dog’s personality and little quirks
  • Their food schedule and any dietary requirements
  • The last time they had their flea or worm treatment
  • Their vaccination status
  • Veterinary contact details
  • Any relevant medical history or medication required while you’re away
  • Pet insurance details
  • The address of where you’re staying and a contact number
  • Emergency contact details, other than yourself

The day you leave

  • Fit your dog with a Beaphar CaniComfort® Calming Collar, and use the Beaphar CaniComfort® Calming Spray on your dog’s bed and favourite sleeping area to help them feel reassured whilst you’re packing to leave. Dogs often find the disruption caused by us packing to go away quite stressful and unsettling.
  • Be sure to take their favourite toy with them to the kennels.

When you arrive

Enjoy your holiday!
